Healthy Minds for Better Lives
"We can do better..."
Romans 12:1-2: "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Get back to the simple life
Welcome to the higher road
Taking a stand may mean standing alone. But when we stand for what is right, we can stand strong with the armor of God. "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7). "Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand (Ephesians 6:13). Will you take a stand for righteous, holy living?
Will Your Choices Glorify God?
The culture is getting dark. Will you be a light and lead the way, to show people to Jesus Christ? As we seek the will of God for our lives, we will do well to start with the known will of God. Accept Jesus as your Savior. Be sure you are a part of a local Bible-believing church, read your Bible and pray daily, tell others the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Then find out what else God has for your life, but always start with the basics. Keep it simple. Rather than asking, "What is best for me?" Ask: "What will glorify God?" If what you do glorifies God, it is likely your choices will be right, wise, and in the end, will be best for you.
"Ye are the light of the world.
A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid."
Matthew 5:14
Our Mission
We are Greg and Dawn Elliott. We love Blairsville! We are concerned about the state of our nation. We are also concerned about the increase of drugs and alcohol in our community. People will always be able to get alcohol and drugs if they want them. That is the problem: the heart of mankind. Our sin can be boiled down to three major categories: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. The problem is that alcohol is not any ordinary drink. It is a doorway that gives the devil legal ground to your life spiritually. How many lives have you known that alcohol has negatively impacted? Satan is a liar, an accuser, a deceiver, a destroyer, a counterfeiter, a murderer and a thief. If he can impair your mind, he can more easily deceive you and attack your family. God commands us: "Be sober, be vigilant: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Peter 5:8). Will you join us in praying for our community, and working on safeguarding your hearts and minds against anything that would cloud your judgment? Now is the time, more than ever, to determine to do what is right and avoid giving Satan any legal ground in our lives.
About Greg and Dawn Elliott
Greg and Dawn Elliott married in 2018, and can testify of the grace of God, who has made beauty out of their ashes. They are fundamental, independent, Bible believing Baptists that use the King James Bible, and serve the Lord together at Refuge Missionary Baptist Church in the area of music. Greg spent 10 yrs. in the Army and completed his time just prior to becoming a Captain. He served two combat tours, including the Gulf War. He is a retired school teacher from Cherokee County in Murphy, NC. He homeschools his son and young cousin.
Dawn, who lived in CT until 2018, has been a nurse since 2002 and a nurse practitioner since 2008, and works in Blairsville as a family nurse practitioner. She went to Bible college for a year before becoming a secretary, and then later going into nursing. She spent several years teaching Sunday school for ages 1st-6th grade, and has published several books and songs to glorify God and encourage young people to have a personal relationship with Jesus. He is, after all, their hope and salvation.
Greg and Dawn believe that enough is enough. There is no more time to be politically correct in our current culture. Let's face it: reformation does not work. Only transformation through the shed blood of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, our sins, will bring real change not only to our individual lives, but then to our families, churches, communities, nations, and the world. Because Satan is so deceitful, of course he will try to compromise our minds so we cannot be vigilant and alert to avoid or combat his attacks on us. We are committed to speak the truth and try to compel people to avoid harmful substances, habits and lifestyles that compromise their minds, and to turn to Jesus because Jesus is STILL the answer for all of life's problems. To this end, we have started Healthy Minds for Better Lives, Inc., a nonprofit organization to bring awareness and education to communities.

Letters submitted
Letter initially hand delivered April 30, along with attached ideas for a possible campaign for healthy minds. I spoke with the mayor, and next meeting was going to be May 13.
Realizing revival comes through the church, and prayer was needed prior to the May 13 meeting, letters with a copy of the letter submitted to local government was hand delivered on May 8 to local churches for prayer and possible support by signing the petition.
The first two paragraphs were placed in the paper by North GA News.
Thank you note to the pastors submitted to the paper. City Hall received several signed petitions, which helped our cause and we were notified on May 13 that the city decided not to pass the 90-day trial of open carry of alcohol in city limits.
Notification sent to the paper to make awareness of new website and to try to start momentum toward healthy minds and avoidance of a culture of alcohol and drugs. The paper chose not to publish this even after several submissions and did not return messages. No explanation was given.
